KANSAS CITY, Mo., September 2, 2009 – Terror and horror have returned for the 35th season of Kansas City’s only world-class haunted house attractions. “The Beast” and “The Edge of Hell” haunted houses open this Labor Day weekend for those who dare to darken the doors of these haunts in the historic West Bottoms district. Haunted house goers should not be afraid, as emergency repairs are expected to be complete on the nearby 12th Street bridge over I-35 in time for opening day.
Since 1975 The Edge of Hell has preyed upon phobias and provided five-story fright from heaven to hell. The Beast is one of the largest haunted houses in the nation, with 30 dramatic scenes on four floors that challenge the courageous to find their way out. Outside entertainment includes music, Thriller Dancers, the headless horseman and more.
This season The Edge of Hell and The Beast creators have served up the best to fright fans in the 45 to 60 minutes it takes to wind and slide through the houses as they pass the chilling combination of special effects, Hollywood-style costumes and make-up, movie quality props, real characters and animatronics.
“Many people make it a tradition to visit The Beast and The Edge of Hell each year to experience the thrills and the new scenes and special effects,” said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, Full Moon Production’s Vice President. “This weekend we encourage everyone to bring friends and family as one dollar per ticket will be donated to the Dream Factory to help area children in need.”
The houses open at 7:30 p.m. and close when the fogs lifts or Hell freezes over, whichever comes first. There is security in every room and free, well-lit parking is available. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door. Tickets are $20 per house or $33 for both.
